For the first time, the World Choir Games took place in the USA. From July 4 – 14, 2012 choirs from all over the world gathered at the 7th World Choir Games in Cincinnati, Ohio, to contribute their share to international understanding and peace among nations.
The Games had over 20,000 participants with 70 countries represented in 23 different musical categories. The Calvary Sanctuary Choir (CSC) was privileged and honored to have been chosen to compete in the Championship Division, Gospel Category as ambassadors representing Cincinnati for the games. The games also included entertainment-packed opening and closing ceremonies, awards ceremonies and hundreds of public performances, including “Friendship concerts,” free choral performances on city streets, public squares, attraction venues and parks in which we took part in. It was a worldwide spotlight on Cincinnati USA and an exhilarating and memorable event.
For the past several years, the Calvary Sanctuary Choir has been committed to spreading the gospel in song through venues such as, America Sings and local events, as well as concerts in the community and all over the city. For the past three years, the Calvary Sanctuary Choir has won best large regional choir in the national competition, How Sweet the Sound, sponsored by Verizon. We are also very active in outreach through the community.
